Sunflower Picking

Valentina and I had a day to ourselves so we decided I decided we'd go sunflower picking.  It might have been too adventurous for us to do on our own, but it was a new experience we were able to do together.  Next time, Daddy is coming with us!

Little Miss Observant

Yesterday Valentina was tormenting Akira so we gave her space to eat by closing the baby gate. Not to be deterred the little one tried hard to get to her 'Kira as she calls her.

I'm done. You can let me out now.

Smells like Vicks

Valentina spent 4 days at daycare last week. She enjoyed her time and made friends fast, but her immune system is not cut out for all her new friends.

This weekend she went to a birthday party but spent the rest of it fighting a summer cold and slight fever.  When I was sick as a kid I liked snuggling with my mom. Valentina has been the same but honestly I don't mind the extra snuggles. I just wish it wasn't because she was sick. Like the good Mexican parents we are we introduced Little V to the Mexican remedy of Vicks. As Adrian said, "It smells like my grandma in her room."  I'm sure her grandmas are looking down and sending her love each and every day.

Oh Akira I missed you when I was at school.

Her first school art project.

When did the Mendoza kids grow up?

I know I'm getting older but somehow I feel my nieces and nephews should stay little. This weekend by brother in law Jimmy celebrated the upcoming opening of the Bay Area Regional Medical Center hospital. I'm excited for this adventure of his but can't get past how big Maddie and Noah have gotten.  When did they grow up?

Summer Fun Continues

This weekend we continued exploring the DC metro area through the eyes of Little Valentina.

Saturday we had swim class where our little fish continued to show her water loving ways. We sang about Old McDonald's Pond (presumably on his farm) and did some Hokey Pokey. In the afternoon we ran errands and played at home.

Sunday was our active day. We went to church and reunited with The Thompsons who were vacationing in California. Valentina was very happy to see Maddie and Luke. I sat on the kids side of the table as they enjoyed each other's company for breakfast.

After nap time we joined the Kormans and Petersons at Cabin John Regional Park. They have a big playground that Valentina will love more and more as she gets older. They also have a train that goes through the park. I think we've now hit all three train parks in the Maryland area around us. The kids had fun eventhough the humidity was not our friend.
