Cool Runnings

Today was one of those days where Valentina was not comforted unless her mommy or daddy was holding her. I discovered this after trying to fort her in to get ready for work (while Adrian was at therapy). That plan didn't work so I tried using her inflatable duck tub to hold her. That too didn't work. Instead she did her best impression of a bobsledder. I warned Adrian she was going to need a snugly day and, as expected, she wouldn't let him out of her sight.

This afternoon Miguelito came to visit and stayed for dinner. He and Valentina were making the same faces. She also thinks he needs a haircut as illustrated by the pulling hair picture.

I don't like all these pillows!

Future Olympian?

This is our surprise face.

You need to cut all of this!

She backed up to get close to Akira.

Sunday Funday

On this day 17 years ago Adrian and I first officially started dating.  It has been such a journey for us and there was no better way to spend it than with our Valentina (and the sun).

This morning she woke up earlier than usual but that meant an early nap with mommy.  We woke up, played and took a nap before Daddy and Akira woke up.  I absolutely love the days we are able to snuggle up for a nap.

We had to exchange her crib mattress so we went to Belfort and Valentina tested out some kid size chairs.  She's a natural on the recliner.  [Note:  If you live in the DC area and don't mind the drive, Belfort is incredible.  Great service.  Huge selection.  Reasonable prices.]

"I want this before football season begins," Valentina

"Or maybe I want the recliner instead..."
After our Belfort trip we went to the outlets where we took advantage of some post President's Day sales to buy Miss Valentina some spring and summer clothes.  We shopped until we dropped (or maybe just Valentina did) and came home in time for an early zucchini dinner.  She always makes the most hilarious faces the first couple of bites.

Spring Fever

When The Lord blesses you with a nice spring weekend in otherwise cold February you take advantage. We thoroughly enjoyed being outside without a coat.

On Saturday we went to the National Arboretum to show the Hawaiins (Auntie Laura, her sister Masayo and her brother in law Po) the bonsai exhibit. After we enjoyed lunch at Union Market. We sat outside in the sun when we got home and finished the day with a dinner party with my coworkers. As the pictures show we had a great day.

Look who is sitting up on her own.

Don't let my fur fool you.  I'm really a sun dog.

Our little musician
Carrots?  I think I like carrots.

DST Dinner Party
All dressed up for her first dinner party.

Our host Ed (as happy as can be with a light saber)

The DST Familia (minus a few)

Dinner Party also included some light saber fun for Valentina.

The smile says it all.  She had a blast.

Drama Queen

Little Miss has mastered the art of drinking her milk and is convinced we're not giving her the same amount. She gets really antsy as soon as she spots her bottle and grabs it from us to drink it. As soon as she's done with it this happens...DRAMA QUEEN!

Food diary

Today Valentina had butternut squash and pears. She makes the most hilarious faces at first then is anxious for more.

More food art

And she did it all without dirtying her onesie. Made in America... Con Partes Mexicanas.

Weekend recap

On Saturday we had a fun time visiting Harrison, Rebecca and Marc Korman.

With Tia Rebecca

On Sunday we went to church and enjoyed the priests surmon. He was entertaining and funny. Hopefully he'll bring some laughs to Valentina's baptism March 22nd. We also tried a sippy cup for the first time but someone quickly became unimpressed with it.

We capped off the weekend with more sweet potato fun!

Valentina Day

Today was yet another family day courtesy of Mother Nature. We had snow time, purple sweet potatoes for lunch, a dance party, a duck bath and lots of hugs and kisses.

The day started with sending Daddy this compilation of pics for Valentina Day

After nap time Miss V and Akira went out in the snow. She's doing so well sitting up. She stayed upright for at least 5 minutes then quickly went face first into the snow. She was slightly upset about that but quickly returned to her usual, smiley self.

Who doesn't develop an appetite playing in the snow? Her Daddy made her purple sweet potato. It. Was. A. Mess. But, she ate it and had fun playing with her food. Perhaps this is the start of an illustrious career in finger painting.

It's no secret Miss V loves ducks. For her day Tia Melissa sent her a duck bath and more ducks. She was in Heaven.
